Product Description

Longevity is changing everything about life and work.  As baby boomers, we are doing this stage in our lives quite differently from previous generations. The old road maps may no longer help on our journey, or may limit our options.

The crucial thing as you think about life and work after 50 is that you take charge and create for yourself a future that is purposeful and fulfilling. This book is a guide that will help you get to where you want to be for this exciting new part of your life and career.

About the author

Geoff Pearman lives in Dunedin New Zealand, having previously lived in Christchurch, Wellington, and Brisbane. In 2012 he established a consulting business focused on the ageing of the workforce.

He now works with clients in Australia and New Zealand in sectors as diverse as financial services, tertiary education, health, aged care, transport, utilities, manufacturing, local and central government.

Geoff has a BA, a Diploma in Social Work and a Certificate in Continuing Education, and a master’s degree in the sociology of organisational change — all completed as a mature student.

During his career he has worked as a social worker, trainer and manager in the social services, university and government sectors. He ventured into business in his 60s and fully appreciates the challenges and opportunities that come from being a senior entrepreneur.

Geoff has written a practical and thought-provoking book. I’ve read it as both an employer and an over-50 and it delivers on both counts.

As someone who has begun his own business in his 50’s I really enjoyed and resonated with what Geoff had to say. The idea of changing the concept of ‘Retirement’ to ‘Redirection’ was something that mulled around in my thought blender for days. A must read for anyone in this transition stage. Well done Geoff

Being at this point in life, I really like the ‘framework’ Geoff provides for rethinking, re-imagining and redirecting this next phase in our lives. It is very relevant, easy to read or dip in & out of, and is a real catalyst for changing your thinking. Congrats on such a great resource coming out of NZ.

A great read, thought provoking, well structured and enjoyable to read. I’m someone ‘under 50’, wondering what an ageing population is going to mean for us in the future and how we’re going to best manage our changing demographics. I found this book a very useful and enlightening read.

I have just read Doing it Differently and I wanted to congratulate you on a very informative publication for baby boomers contemplating the transition to the next phase of their lives.

Your book provides great insight into what’s ahead of us all (as individuals and a nation), a positive approach to the options available and how to manage this transition into retirement or otherwise.
